Introducing Cursorly, our free cursor app for Mac

Ram PatraFounder

On June 11, 2026, we launched Cursorly on the Mac App Store.

Cursorly is a focused cursor app for Mac. It can highlight your pointer, dim distractions with a spotlight, and magnify small details with cursor zoom. These tools make your screen easier to follow during presentations, recordings, tutorials, video calls, and other moments when you are guiding someone through what is happening on your screen.

Why cursor tools matter

Keynote and PowerPoint are excellent for building slides, but a presentation is more than the slides themselves. Your audience also needs to know where to look, especially when you move between slides, demonstrate an app, explain a chart, or share something live on screen.

Cursor tools help direct that attention. Highlight makes your pointer easier to follow, Spotlight brings focus to the part of the screen that matters, and Zoom makes small details easier to see. Used thoughtfully, they can help you articulate ideas more clearly, keep your audience engaged, add polish to your delivery, and make your presentation stand out.

Why we built Cursorly

Presentify combines screen annotation with tools that make the cursor and surrounding content easier for an audience to follow. These include Highlight, Spotlight, which dims the rest of the screen to direct attention, and Zoom, which magnifies small text and details. Over time, we heard from many people who wanted these cursor features but did not need the annotation tools.

For those users, buying the complete Presentify experience did not always make sense. Cursorly gives them a smaller, dedicated app built around exactly what they need.

It also offers an easy way to experience Presentify's cursor-related features before deciding whether the broader annotation toolkit is right for you. Cursorly has feature parity with those cursor features, so you can try them directly from the Mac App Store.

Our first free app with in-app purchases

Cursorly is also a first for Softal: it is our first free app with in-app purchases.

All basic features are free to use forever. There is no trial countdown and no subscription required. People who need the advanced features can unlock them with a one-time purchase of $5. The price may change in the future as the app evolves.

We chose this model because the core app should remain useful on its own. The one-time upgrade is there for people who want more, while keeping the starting point simple and accessible to everyone.

A focused alternative

Presentify remains the right choice for people who want to draw on their screen, annotate content, and guide attention with cursor highlighting, spotlight, and zoom. Cursorly is for anyone who only needs the cursor side of that experience.

That clearer separation lets people choose the app that fits their workflow without paying for tools they do not plan to use.

We shared the launch in our Cursorly announcement on X. We are excited to see how presenters, teachers, creators, and anyone sharing their screen put it to use.
